Finished Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko – Episode 3

October 3, 2011 in denpa onna to seishun otoko

This post is a bit delayed but I finished the episode, I’m beginning to really like the anime. In this episode the guy decides to force reality into her by telling her to do the extra-terrestrial abilities she claims she can do. He knows she can’t do it and everyone else has given up on her but he’s determined to prove to her the cold hard way that she’s not an alien.

Keep in mind she thinks she’s an alien because she mysteriously disappeared one very random day and didn’t show back up until 6 months later with no memory of the time-gap. She couldn’t mentally deal with this so she manifested this story that she’s a messenger from outer-space and never was human, after manifesting this story she was able to cope somewhat with reality but separated herself from everyone and continuously hides behind a futon (Japanese bed on floor)

The visiting relative is determined to help her and in this episode, as mentioned above, force reality into her. He put’s her onto his bicycle and tells her to make the bike fly as she claims she can do, he then proceeds to ride off the edge of the hill into the ocean. As expected, she couldn’t make the bike fly and they crashed into the ocean. Reality didn’t sink in but it certainly made an impression on her and she’s now beginning to question this manifestation she created.

This was a very touching episode especially when she bursts out crying at the end. I definitely would recommend this anime to others so far.

Finished Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko – Episode 2

The show is quickly becoming more interesting, this episode revealed some mild tragedy about the girls past. It was revealed that the girl one day was coming home from school but never showed up at home, everyone looked for her but nobody could find her. 6 months later she arrived home having no memory of the extremely large time gap.

She began to come up with her own reasoning and decided that she was abducted by aliens. She began to talk and act very weird so she dropped out of school because people started avoiding her. She then changed her story from “abducted by aliens” to “sent by aliens” as in she was also an alien. It’s really her way of mentally dealing with the large time gap.

One night she claimed she could fly and was determined to prove it so she ran off the bridge with her bicycle but fell hard onto the river below it breaking her leg and arm. From then on she keeps her face and upper-body rolled up in a futon (Japanese bed on floor) at all times thus hiding herself from reality.

Very interesting show, I can’t wait until episode 3. I noticed a lot of people liked it on YouTube as it got good ratings and reviews.

Finished Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko – Episode 1

September 30, 2011 in denpa onna to seishun otoko

Okay, this is a new anime I’m going to try out and that was recommended by a Japanese friend. I finally watched the first episode and found it refreshingly entertaining and interesting. I might decide to dedicate to this anime but I was surprised it only had 12 episodes meaning it’s a mini-series.

The manga was much more popular and lasted much longer, I think the anime was made just for fun off the manga but never seriously intended to stay the length of the manga.

Either way, I think I’ll like the anime and look forward to Episode 2. As a general anime rule, based on the nature of anime, you can never judge the first 3 or 4 episodes so I can’t make a decision until after about episode 3 whether I’ll watch the whole thing or not.

I can’t find anything of use on YouTube so here’s the official trailer for it which aired on TV

A japanese guy recommended anime

September 23, 2011 in denpa onna to seishun otoko

A Japanese guy, whom I’m helping to get better at English, recommended this anime to me as it’s his favorite.

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko

電波女と青春男

Electric Wave Woman and Youthful Man

According to Wikipedia:

“Electric Wave” being used in Japanese to refer to a person who is crazy or holds odd beliefs

I’ll investigate the anime to see if I’d like it or not, it does have to do with aliens so I might not like it (I’m not a fan of alien related anime or manga).

A preview of various parts of the anime is below:
